The History of the Realm

Well. I've made Forever's Realm what it is over the past few years. I'm quite satisfied by the results, but I know that there is plenty of space for improvement.

It first started off as an about me sort of webpage thing (that's when I was in 4-5th grade). There really wasn't all that much on it other than the Tekken 3 intro, a few words that said who I was and a little Magus midi in the background.

Near the end of 5th grade, I made a miniature 1 page website on Janus and Magus from Chrono Trigger (with the help of Netscape's WYSIWYG). It had a couple of pretty cool move around links (you know the ones where you click on the link and it takes you to a section at the bottom of the page).

Then during 7th grade I made my first real webpage. Pichu Forever version 1.0. It had a lot of stuff on Pokémon.
Finally during the first half of 8th grade, I basically made a more confusing version of what the Realm is now. I had Pokémon on the main server and the others on their own separate ones. They all had frames and had really slow load times.

During the last part of 8th grade and the summer following it, I made Pichu Forever version 2.0. That had fairly decent load times and had quite a bit of information; but I still wasn't satisfied.

During the first 1.5 months 9th grade (September 2001) I  succeeded in my task. I made a really nice looking and fast loading site that had tons of info on a lot of anime. It was full of images and midis and best of all, I managed to cram it into 8MB (it had over 1000 unique images. Okay, so I might be exaggerating a little).
By July of 2002, I changed the background, added a Cardcaptors section, got over 300 new pics, fixed the layout, added a dropdown music menu and got a ton of downloads.  It was approximately 19.5MB without the downloads.

In June 2002, I made the layout even easier to manage.  With a large downloads section and tons of stuff for all visitors, I was really happy with what the realm had become.  It was getting around 200 hits a day and has received over 36,000 hits in the past six months.

But, with time, the layout got cluttered and my precious file space of 20MB was being consumed by new pictures, so I had to go around and delete a couple of images (accidentally deleting ones that were still being used on the page); So I decided to just make a new site that was identical to the previous one, just with a little more stuff and with less file space used.

I finally changed my server in October.  I added tons of new pics and info as well as some new sections.  At that time, the Realm consisted of over 100 pages and over 5,000 images.  By this time, the Realm had also reached over 100,000 hits, a major landmark for any site.  Unfortunately, I was preoccupied at the time, and the counter rolled by without anything spectacular.

Around the 1st of December in 2002, the site started to receive over 400 a day. Iin celebration, the site received a new layout on the 23rd.

I'm currently trying to raise enough money through paypal for my own domain, but until that happens I'm stuck with Fateback I guess.......
